At the end of each year I start thinking about what my One Inspired Word will be for the upcoming year.
In 2011 my first word was Fearless. I was in a job that I no longer loved, I hated going to work every day. I was passionate about the cause but it was a tumultuous environment. Being single, was making a good salary and felt trapped. A few years prior I had started a food blog and I loved it. It was my ray of light to go home to. That year I faced many fears to move to a more authentic life an pursue my passions.
It sounds crazy but I feel like my word finds me each year. It is not always easy and at times I sit with a word for a few days before settling on it. Some years the word is so clear – I have no doubt. Other years I have to really think and pray about the direction for the upcoming year.
- Reflect on the past year – what went well and where did it fall short?
- Ponder the year ahead.
- Define Your Vision For The Year Ahead
- Find Your Word
- Define Your Word
- Pray Over Your Word and Your Year
- Commit to your word and share it!

It is so easy to think about it as we start a new year with grand vision, but harder to stay the course. It is better when we do it together! Accountability increases the likelihood of success. Let’s inspire each other to live out the life God has placed before us!
