One Inspired Word can be powerful if we chose to embrace it for the year. Our words are important. Words hold great power to encourage or destroy. Words we speak to our selves, whisper early in the morning, scream to ourselves when we are tired and weary. They plant seeds in our soul whether we want them to or not.
You aren’t good enough
“You failed again”
“When will I get it right”
“I will never be enough”
Those words plant seeds that if we keep watering put down roots and grow. If we say to ourselves “we are not enough”, enough times, we start to believe it and act on it. Our words turn into bad weeds strangling our hopes and dreams.
If you turn to the Bible you will find many references to words.
Proverbs 16:24
Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.
Jesus talked many times about words:
John 6:63
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.
We want to speak words of life and hope to ourself and others. How much better do we feel when someone tells us how great of job we are doing, or shares what they appreciate about us? In the midst of long days of work, mothering, caring for a parent, being a wife, it can be easy to discount our value or feel like we are falling short.
The words we choose to focus on and believe, matters. The great thing is we can change the conversation. We can choose to put away negative and to move forward by focusing on One Inspired Word. Don’t know where to start? Read How To Select Your One Inspired Word in 2017?
